Vedic vs. Western Astrocartography

Traditional Western astrocartography uses the tropical zodiac, while Vedic (Jyotish) practitioners apply sidereal calculations. The difference — approximately 24 degrees in 2026 due to the precession of equinoxes — means planetary lines fall in slightly different geographical positions depending on which system you use. Our calculator uses Vedic sidereal calculations (Lahiri Ayanamsha) for planetary positions, providing results aligned with the Jyotish tradition. For users who prefer Western tropical astrocartography, planetary positions will differ by roughly one zodiac sign.

• • Factor in current transits. A location might be on your Saturn line but Saturn is currently transiting favorably in your chart — making it a productive time to be there despite the line's reputation.
• • Remember: lines activate, they don't override. Moving to a Jupiter line won't fix a poorly managed business or a toxic relationship pattern. It amplifies what you bring to the location.
