About Panchang

Panchang is the ancient Hindu system of timekeeping that tracks the movement of celestial bodies to determine auspicious times for various activities. The word "Panchang" comes from Sanskrit meaning "five limbs" (Pancha = five, Anga = limb).

The Five Elements of Panchang:

  • Tithi: Lunar day, important for festivals and rituals
  • Nakshatra: Constellation the Moon is passing through
  • Yoga: Auspicious combination of Sun and Moon positions
  • Karana: Half a Tithi, used for muhurat calculations
  • Vara: Day of the week with its ruling planet

Calculations are based on astronomical algorithms. Timings may vary slightly based on your exact location.
